Partying hard and ensuing ‘cock up’s’ !!

OK…..FAIL !!  I’ve missed a couple of days because I’ve been in London at meetings and attending a ‘red carpet do’ in Chelsea.  All great fun and very productive but not good from the point of view of having the time to blog !  Anyone who may have missed me….my apologies !

I will try to catch up with today’s blog !

So…due to partying all of Tuesday night plus meetings etc….I overslept this morning !  Pippa suddenly appeared at my bedside at 8am and informed me that Nikita wasn’t up !  Oooooops !  We collided in the corridor both still wearing our pyjamas with her rubbing her sleepy eyes as I chivvied her up to try and be ready for when the taxi arrived.  FAIL again !!

She did her best, bless her, but with all the stress of exams etc…at the moment she’s not sleeping too well.  I gave in when the taxi arrived to take her to school and she still had her pyjamas on, so I told her “I’ll take you in”

Two days away from my desk meant a huge build up of work had accumulated and my plan had been to get up early and get on it as early as possible.  Now I had to take Nikita to Warwick so that plan was straight out of the window and I finally managed to sit down to work at 10am !  My fault, I should have been up to drag her out of bed !!

We had partied pretty hard on Tuesday evening and as I normally don’t touch alcohol it doesn’t take much for me to get somewhat ‘sozzled’ !  The drinks kept appearing from nowhere it seemed and I drank them having got well into the party spirit !  As far as I remember it was a great night !  I met some interesting people and made a few contacts so very successful and enjoyable.

What wasn’t so enjoyable was the headache the next morning, having no Paracetamol and knowing I had meetings where I needed to be ‘on the ball’.

I left the hotel still in a bit of a daze and made my way down to the tube station wishing I could just sit down and realising that this feeling is exactly why I very rarely drink !  I can sit down on the train I thought, gaining a little comfort from that thought.  But no, the train was packed and I had to stand all the way to Covent Garden.

I deserve no sympathy, it was totally self inflicted but two coffees and a flapjack later I was feeling a little better and ready to face my meetings.

One of them was with Claire Richmond who owns findatvexpert.com.   We met at the Union Club in Greek Street where we spent the best part of three hours nattering and planning strategies.  I thoroughly enjoyed meeting her, she’s a real ‘live wire’ and so full of knowledge and valuable information.  What a fabulous woman, thank you Claire, it was so lovely to meet you !

With a couple of hours to kill before my train I wandered down to Oxford Street, found a Costa and started working on a few of the ideas Claire had given me including an idea for another book.  A great idea as it happens so watch this space for more information on how it goes !

I now need to catch up on some writing, I’ve promised Andrew the proposal for the current book by the end of next week so I’m on a tight deadline !

Back tomorrow !!!!
